Meeting Many Singaporeans

There are so many of us overseas, and its weird how you can instantaneously feel at home with each other. First and foremost I guess it’s the language that bonds you. And you start realizing you have common backgrounds. Lets face it, if you choose to come china, there must be some hidden inner cheena in you. I’m not denying it!

Well I really just met 2 groups of people. First it was the NUS Law people… there is an awful lot of them here actually. Just that they stay off campus… we’re the only idiots who paid a fortune to stay in this ultra-expensive dorm.

Then I met C Cube! And her roommate… its cool la, finally seeing a friend who I knew back from home. I never get sick of this happy feeling =P

Whole bunch of Singaporeans at this little Japanese restaurant. Guess what, we each paid S$3 and we got an ala carte Japanese Sushi buffet. With drinks, salad, soup, and an endless supply of sushi. I ate till I exploded! THREE DOLLARS!!

C cube brought us there… the restaurant was so small and cozy it served only US! Don’t get too jealous my dearest linzy, ky and jinny =P

The MRT

Gosh the MRT here beats Singapore’s one hands down. By far. Its clean, fast, high-tech. Probably gonna be the first and last time we’re gonna take the train here.

We took line 2 down to meet the rest!

The station which the cabbie brought us to. Darn we got on a cab which brought us on a wild goose chase around Shanghai… we asked him nicely to bring us to the closest MRT station. Instead he brought us to one which was almost a 15 mins drive away… I guess you can’t really avoid getting conned when you are just a stupid little tourist and always paranoid about getting beaten up by the people here.

Shanghai Ke Ji Guan 上海科技馆

Ok I didn’t actually go inside. I just stayed outside. But it was spectacular. The backdrop was of huge beautiful architechture, and there were many people flying kites at the huge open space there. Check out the pictures below.

This is really one nice shot which I took… opinions anyone?

A little girl skating around… china children are really adorable when they are little. I wonder why they change so much once they grow up.

An accidental shot that turned out rather arty farty… besides the fact that I look bad.

FUSSA exchange people! (Baisheng, me, shui, Yucheng) Yucheng’s from NUS law, born a Shanghainese. He’s really nice… brought us around the fake goods market.

Fake Goods Market

Girls, if you want some branded stuff which are first-rate imitations, tell me ok!

Plenty of super-realistic Prada Gucci LV here.

Alternatively there are also stuff like what… Chloe Paddington lock bags and Balenciaga Motorcycle bags… don’t ask me what they are, I don’t really know either. Just that after trailing after Shui for about 3 hours looking at a few hundred motorcycle bags, you kinda start to know abit about them. Tsk…

This place reminds me abit of JB. There is a store front, then there is this hidden passage way which leads you to this hidden room where filled with imitation products. Its really scary cause the people that kinda glare at you if you exit without purchase. I never felt so popular in my whole life, getting approached by about 58 people in one day.

KTV Session 2

With 4 NUS law people, we gamely set ourselves up for another session of late night KTV-ing. WOOHOO!! This time round there was much more people. And guess what, never have I met so many like-minded people when talking about singing Chinese songs.

The songs they chose were songs I have never K-ed before, but have been listening to my whole life. All those old classics which were back from the 80s and 90s era. Seriously, where else but china, can you find a whole group of people chiming in to the lyrics of 新鸳鸯蝴蝶梦 like we were old pros? I remember trying to play this song in Singapore and I think half my friends thought I was crazy, mad, and an ubber-ahtiong. HAHA! Our song list included 草蜢 songs and 小虎队 songs, and old CLASSIC duets like 选择, and loads of Teresa Teng Songs. I forgot many others, and some were songs which I never knew the title and singers until that night. What a fantastic experience, seriously!

The three guys goofing off. (Left to Right) Wen Shan (ex dunmanian, has a superb knowledge of all the duet songs on the ktv song list selection, obsessed with a TV show called shanghai tan) Shawn (the big brother, seems to be a hao nan ren =P) Amos (the chain smoker and the super imitator. He can imitate a whole long list of singers. From Andy Lau to Sammi Cheng. Super pro!)

This k box cost us EACH S$3 to sing from 11.30 pm to 6am… yeap you heard me right. THREE DOLLARS!

They have a fantastic system with inbuild games and movies.

AND they provided free breakfast for us. Yum yum YUM!!

The six of us outside the KTV place at 6 bloody am. Do we look tired to you? (Huiyi is the last girl which I haven’t mentioned…=D )

Crazily, me and Shui cycled back at 6am to hall. Everyone was staring at me cause I was cycling in a skirt but I didn’t really have a choice. Boo.

she mumbles her nonsense ; {12:40 AM}
